In order to reduce companies’ dependence on fossil fuels, the government recently announced a “electrification of uses” plan with several measures aimed at decarbonizing vehicles and professionals’ work tools.

Thus, as of June 1, 2026, aid for the purchase or rental of new electric light commercial vehicles (vans) by professionals is increased to €9,500. Similarly, a subsidy increased to more than €100,000 may apply when purchasing an electric tractor-trailer. In addition, the existing aid for the electrification of box trucks will be almost doubled. As for public works companies, they can benefit from aid for the purchase of electric construction machinery. Finally, the purchase of light electric agricultural machinery will be made easier for farmers by the end of the year.

To benefit from this aid, the vehicles and machinery must be manufactured in Europe.

In practice: The financing will be carried out via energy saving certificates (CEE).

In addition to these vehicles and machines, the plan also provides support for craftsmen in financing the acquisition of their electric bakers’ ovens, electric rotisseries, and electric paint booths for bodywork by the summer of 2026.

Note: At the same time, a “Action élec ta boite”(1) loan, without collateral and repayable over a period of 3 to 7 years, with up to 2 years of deferral, is launched by Bpifrance to finance the purchase of electrical equipment by craftsmen.

And what about individuals?

The government’s plan also contains measures in favor of individuals, particularly the provision of 50,000 additional new electric vehicles for social leasing for low-income households from mid-July 2026.

And for those who do not have access to this social lease, subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles will be increased to €7,700 in 2026 for an eco-scored vehicle whose battery is manufactured in Europe. This measure targets middle-class workers in rural areas who travel at least 12,000 km/year with their personal vehicle, such as midwives or nurses.
